Erik Bacharach is the baseball and sports entertainment reporter for Sports Business Journal. He recently received his master’s in sports management from Columbia University, where he focused on digital media and marketing.
Hi there! Thanks for stumbling upon my website. I’m currently a staff writer for Sports Business Journal and just completed my master’s degree at Columbia University. I’m based in Brooklyn, NY.
I previously worked for The Tennessean, where I covered the Titans’ run to the 2020 AFC Championship Game, the 2019 NFL Draft in Nashville, and the first few seasons of the Mike Vrabel era in Tennessee.
My work for The Tennessean was recognized by the Associated Press Sports Editors, the Tennessee Press Association, and the Tennessee Sports Writers Association, which named me the 2019 writer of the year in its largest division.
In 2017, I was one of four selected by APSE for its annual Diversity Fellowship, an in-depth, seven-month course of study for women and minority journalists interested in pursuing a path as a manager in sports journalism.
At The Daily News Journal, my work was recognized by the Associated Press Sports Editors, the Tennessee Associated Press, and the Tennessee Sports Writers Association, which named me the 2017 writer of the year in its second-largest division. My four individual APSE awards in 2017 made me the most individually decorated sports writer in the country, and I became the first sports writer to win awards in the beat writing category for two different newspapers in the same year.
My work for The Opelika-Auburn News was recognized by the Associated Press Sports Editors, the Alabama Press Association, the Alabama Sports Writers Association and the Alabama Associated Press Media Editors.
While pursuing my master’s degree in 2021, I had valuable experiences as a Brands and Properties Intern for Wasserman and as a Digital Marketing Intern for Nashville SC.
